Beyond early Reading at home

When pupils finish the Read Write Inc scheme, their home reading books are linked to pupils Accelerated Reader ZPD. This approach ensures that pupils have sufficient practice in reading and re-rereading books that match the grapheme-phoneme correspondences they know and their comprehension skills.

Parent workshops 2022-23

We hold parent Reading workshops, class drop-ins and parent meetings so that our families are supported and understand how best to support their children in learning to and continuing a love of reading.

We hold regular book swaps in school and book stalls at our school fairs to ensure that children are exposed to high quality books at home and develop a love of reading. We use incentive schemes, such as our Reading Reward prizes and Accelerated reader 80% or above in quizzes or words read challenge, to encourage practise at home.
