P.E - Miss Kerrison

At Balliol Primary we recognise the contribution that a high quality and enjoyable PE and sport programme is a vital part of a child’s development and to the health and well-being of children. We aim to develop each child’s physical confidence and skills, enabling them to lead healthy life styles. We believe that a varied PE curriculum with a range of extra-curricular activities and access to competitive sport can have a positive influence on the self-confidence, concentration, resilience, attitude, achievement and a sense of fair-play of all our children. The curriculum also embeds our whole school values, preparing pupils for life in modern Britain by equipping them to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to their community and to society.  The curriculum is designed to enable all children to participate including those who are more able, as well as those with additional needs.  We believe that our PE curriculum should go beyond the academic, enabling pupils to develop and discover their interests and talents.  Consequently, we think carefully about how to use the Sports Premium Funding to deliver a sustained impact and develop skills for life.

We take part in sports competitions run by the local authority and other partner schools.  This increases pupils participation in the School Games and also encourages children to take on leadership or volunteer roles that support sport and physical activity.
