Early Years at Balliol

At Balliol Primary School, we understand the importance that the Early Years Foundation Stage plays in building foundations for lifelong learning and well-being.  Our vision is to embrace our young children’s learning through play and curiosity as well as creating a sense of belonging within our school and community. Our curriculum is designed to be progressive throughout Foundation Stage, building upon our children’s starting points and giving them the skills and knowledge they need to be resilient learners.

Our curriculum is the cultural capital we know our pupils need so that they can gain the knowledge, skills and understanding they require for success. We support them to develop effective learning habits through the Characteristics of Effective Learning – Play and Exploration, Active Learning and Creative and Critical Thinking.
