SEND Information

Mrs D Jarvis - SENDCo

All children who attend Balliol Primary School are unique and special. It is the duty of all members of staff to recognise and nurture the strengths and talents of every child. We strive to help every child develop their full potential academically, socially and spiritually.

This page gives information about how we support children with Special Educational Needs. If you would like any further information please contact Ms Mellor, Headteacher or Mrs Jarvis, Acting SENDCO through the School Office – 0191 8142500

Balliol Primary is a fully inclusive school where every child is valued. We ensure that all pupils achieve their potential personally, socially, emotionally, physically and educationally in a caring environment.  We recognise that pupils with special educational needs and disabilities may fall into one or more of the following areas of need:

1. Communication and interaction

2. Cognition and learning

3. Social, mental and emotional health

4. Sensory and/or physical

Your support for your child’s education is crucial to their progress. Please tell us if there are any adjustments we need to make to help you support your child, for example: letters in large font; letters in different languages; wheelchair access; explaining things over the phone; a discussion with a school colleague of the same gender etc.

Local Offer

Local Authorities have a duty to publish a Local Offer, setting out in one place information about provision they expect to be available in their area across education, health and social care for children and young people in their area who have SEN or are disabled, including those who do not have EHC (Educational Health Care) plans.
