Great fun as usual!  The weather was kind and it was great to have so many family members come along to support the children.  The races were pretty competitive - as they should be - but there was a great sense of sportsmanship throughout.   The claps and cheers for our medal winners really reflected those positive attitudes.   Many thanks to everyone for their support and a big thank you to our amazing F@B Team who provided fruit and drinks to keep everyone in top form.

  • Holly and The Ivy

    Mon 07 Dec 2015 F Downes
We like to ensure that our children are given opportunities to explore and understand the rich heritage of this area.  It was lovely therefore to host this fantastic show  at Balliol.  It was a fantastic celebration of local culture and history through music and dance.  The children joined in with great enthusiasm and demonstrated wonderful musical talent - including playing the bucket!

  • Osiligi Maasai Warriors

Mon 14 Sep 2015 Mrs Downes
What a show!  Children and staff were completely entranced by this wonderful display of dance and music from this ancient and fascinating Kenyan tribe.  The dancers wore traditional, bold and beautiful tribal dress and told tribal stories through singing and dance.  The harmonies were absolutely beautiful.  It was fascinating to hear the tradition of mouth music.  It is incredible how many different sounds one person can make at once!  Some of us were even roped in to some very jumpy dancing - the children were a lot more impressive than their ancient head teacher.   A great celebration of a remarkable culture.
  • Play Leaders at Balliol -

    Tue 09 Jun 2015
It is wonderful to see just how well our year 5 and 6 children are taking to this leadership role. They have a range of responsibilities around school at lunchtime and are always smart and responsible in their bright yellow tabards and caps. They are beginning to make the roles their own and showing real ability in supporting play and happy lunchtimes. We are very proud of them.
  • V E Day Celebration

    Fri 01 May 2015
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our VE Day family picnic.  We were incredibly lucky with the weather and it was great to see so many families enjoying themselves in our Quiet Garden.  The children certainly enjoyed having some bonus time with their loved ones as we marked this important occasion.   The whole school also observed the 2 minute silence at 3:00pm and the children were both respectful and reflective.  A credit to themselves and everyone who supports them.
